BACOLOD City – The city council asked Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) to reconsider the “one bill policy.”
In a resolution, the council stressed Ceneco should have consulted consumers first to come up with better payment methods and terms.
Councilor Simplicia Distrito, author of the resolution, said the “one bill policy” is disadvantageous to low income earners because the number of days provided to settle the bill is short.
In fact, she said, many complained not having been consulted about the new policy prior to the announcement of its implementation beginning this month.
Under the “one bill policy” Ceneco member-consumers must settle their electricity bill within nine days after it was rendered to them.
Failure to do so would mean the account becomes past due./PN
