City gov’t encourages public to watch Bacolod film fest entries

BACOLOD City – The city government encouraged everyone to watch entries of the Bacolod Film Festival (BFF) and win prizes.

“Bacolod, it’s time to celebrate our local talent at the Bacolod Film Festival. Watch, enjoy and get a chance to win exciting prizes with every movie ticket,” Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said in a Facebook post.

The screening schedule dates will be on September 12 to 15 in two cinemas of SM City and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

To win prizes, one should buy a ticket which is equivalent to one raffle entry.

Buyers should ensure that quick response (QR) code on the ticket must be scanned upon entry to the cinema to be included in the raffle and they must keep the portion of the ticket where the number is printed.

The 10 BFF entries are the following: “A flower a day”, “Aninaw”, “Blind Date”, “Chicken Inasal”, “Glub”, “Laragway sa Karon”, “Manokan Country”, “Puli na Diche Lesly,” “Sa Pwesto ni Pestong”, and “The Mansion”.

Each entry received a subsidy of P300,000, according to Frances Mae Llamas, assistant department head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP).

BFF was created under City Ordinance (CO) No. 1061, which passed on Feb. 14, 2024, with the aim to promote the development of the local film industry, provide a venue for showcasing artistic talents and enhance cultural appreciation.

The ordinance mandates the creation of a BFF Council that will organize and oversee the BFF and ensure the smooth implementation of the ordinance.

It further cited that the city aims to further develop the film production scene in Bacolod City by creating a venue where Bacolod/Negros produced films are shown in major cinemas in the city.

It also cited that a fund will be provided in the implementation of the said ordinance for the development and promotion of the BFF./PN
