ILOILO City – The city government plans to close its quarantine facility in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo district.
According to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) significantly slowed down and most of those who tested positive for the virus were just being told to quarantine in their homes.
The city mayor tasked the City Health Office (CHO) and quarantine facility manager Gab Umadhay to have a plan for doctors and nurses assigned at the quarantine facility once it the facility is closed.
One option, said Treñas, is to to transfer them to district health centers.
Since November last year, the quarantine facility only had one or two patients.
Data released by the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed the city already recording zero positive cases of COVID-19 for several days.
This January, no cases were recorded from Jan. 6 to 9 (as of 12 noon), while only one case each day was logged on Jan. 2, 4 and 5, two cases on Jan. 1, and six cases on Jan. 3.
Treñas said the quarantine facility will be replaced with a mega health center equipped with its own clinical laboratory, ultrasound machine, at least five dialysis stations, and x-ray machine, among others./PN
