ILOILO City – The city government is eyeing to return the daily rate of job hires to P500.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said he tasked the Finance Committee to look into the feasibility of this plan.
“Gina pangitaan ta paagi kon pwede balik sa P500 (per) day,” Treñas said.
Currently, the job hires are being compensated P400 per day.
According to the city mayor, there are still unpaid taxes and once these are collected, the daily rate of job hires might return to P500 daily.
Meanwhile, the city mayor clarified that the city has no budget shortfall.
The reduction of P100 from the P500 daily rate of the job hires last year was due to the coronavirus pandemic and so none of them will be displaced.
The city government has around 3,000 job hire employees./PN
