ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the closure of The Cave Superclub and Music Hall in Mandurriao district over the alleged mauling of customers by the club’s bouncers.
The establishment was closed on July 12. Its business permit was eventually revoked.
In his closure order, the city mayor noted that the recurrence of said incidents clearly displayed the company’s failure to abide by the provisions of law and specified under the Local Tax Ordinance.
The city government was able to secure blotter entries and reports from the Mandurriao police confirming the occurrence.
The Mandurriao police was also the one that endorsed to Treñas the club’s closure.
“The series of mauling incidents and repeated occurrence of similar incidents within your establishment with apparent failure on your part to responsibly abate such situations continuously endanger the public and disturb peace and order. Consequently, these call for the imposition of appropriate action,” Treñas underscored to the management.
Meanwhile, Task Force on Morals and Values Formation head and Compliance Officer Nestor Canong said the management was given 10 days to appeal to the closure order of Treñas as part of due process.
The Cave Management, on the other, clarified that they do not tolerate violence.
In an interview over DYRI RMN Iloilo, Jessie Cogollo, operations manager of the club, those bouncers involved in mauling incidents were suspended while others have been terminated.
“They were suspended already and ‘yung iba terminated na, ang mga bouncers na involved. We do not tolerate any form of violence sa amon club,” said Cogollo.
The manager also assured the city government that they are willing to work for the good of their customers./PN
