ILOILO City – The city government’s proposed budget for 2020 is P2.7 billion.
It hurdled the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s appropriations committee and is now set for deliberation by the legislative body.
“It’s a conservative budget,” said Councilor Jay Treñas, chairperson of the appropriations committee, “kay indi kita segurado sang mga actual naton nga income.”
The proposed budget, however, is around P400-million higher than this year’s.
Matters not covered by the proposed 2020 budget may be funded via budget supplements, said Treñas.
But here’s one good news to city government employees. “We have adjusted sang sweldo sang aton mga empleyado kag may saka man nga 10 percent across the board per department para ka-function sila properly,” said Treñas.
Of the P2.7 billion proposal, 57.21 percent (P1,546,449,500) will come from local taxes while the remaining from the city’s Internal Revenue Allotment.
Treñas said no city hall department would get zero budget.
His uncle, Mayor Jerry Treñas, previously warned that department heads absent in meetings he called won’t be getting budgets.
For 2020, the proposed budget for the mayor’s office is P73.7 million for personnel services and P590,400, 957 for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses./PN
