ILOILO City – The city government closed down 10 restaurants and bars in Mandurriao district for operating without business permits.
These establishments violated sections 240 and 243 of Local Tax Ordinance 2007-016, according to Nestor Canong, chairman of the city’s Task Force on Morals and Values Formation.
The closure order, he said, was issued on Sept. 15.
Aside from having no business permits, Canong revealed that some of the restobars served alcoholic drinks to their customers, which is a clear violation of Mayor Jerry Treñas’ executive order containing general guidelines for the metro’s modified general community quarantine status.
These 10 establishments are the following:
* Overtime Est: 2020
* District 1422 Bar and Restaurant
* Estambayan
* Team Bang Resto Bar
* Lechonera de Iloilo
* Daff Resto Bar
* Kwennel Resto Bar
* In Numtah
* 28 St. Resto Bar
* Mental Bistro
Some of the establishment owners were also fined for violating the social distancing protocol, according to Canong.
He noted that as of Friday, managers and owners of the said restobars were already processing their business permits at the city’s Business Processing and Licensing Office (BPLO).
“Maabri lang sila kon may ara na sila business permits nga ma-issue sang BPLO,” Canong explained.
He emphasized that establishments with the main business to serve alcoholic drinks are still not allowed to open unless the modified general community quarantine is lifted and would be downgraded to a more relaxed status.
Treñas earlier warned that he will order the closure of the restobars after reports reached him that they are operating without business permits./PN
