City gov’t taps youth in drive vs vandalism

ILOILO City – The city government and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) are partnering with the youth in an all-out war against vandalism.

The “Ilonggo Kontra Vandalismo” is part of the cleanliness campaign of the city government, said Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

“We will approach the children and ask their commitment to partner with us in clearing the city of vandals. We will inculcate into their minds that committing vandalism will not bring them any good,” he added.

The campaign was launched in this city over the weekend with partner individuals and organizations making known their commitment.

Espinosa lamented that school walls, overpasses, public spaces, government buildings, and private structures are easy targets of vandals.

“Proper authorities should get involved to get rid of the problem,” he said. (PNA)
