ILOILO City – The city government will extend help to the family of a biker who died of cardiac arrest while joining the Iloilo Bike Festival 2022 on Saturday.
Biker Kennedy Machan, 60, of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district and chief engineer IBC TV 12, was one of the 700 participants in the Tour of Iloilo Double Century Ride from Iloilo City to Iloilo Province on July 30.
According to reports, Machan collapsed upon reaching Lambunao town. He was rushed to the Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital but did not make it.
Public Safety and Transportation Management Office head Jeck Conlu said the city government will extend the necessary assistance to Machan family as instructed by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Machan was one of the over 2,000 bike enthusiasts from Western Visayas and across the country that joined this year’s Iloilo Bike Festival from July 29 to 31.
For July 30’s Tour of Iloilo Double Century Ride alone, more than 700 bikers registered.

For the Criterium Race (Mountain Bike Category) on July 30 to 31, 500 registered to participate.
For the Kiddie Race on July 31, over 150 kid bikers joined.On the other hand, some 1,000 bike enthusiasts participated in the Iloilo City Bike Tour – Grand Fun Ride which was the festival highlight on July 31./PN
