ILOILO City – The Office of the Ombudsman has indicted an assistant department head of the City Civil Registrar here for alleged falsification.
In its consolidated resolution dated Oct. 6, 2022, the Ombudsman ruled that probable cause exists to indict Iloilo City Registrar’s Office assistant department head Cherie J. Ampig for allegedly falsifying her daily time record (DTR).
Ampig’s indictment stemmed from the complaint filed by then Civil Registrar head Romeo Caesar L. Manikan on September 2020.
According to Manikan, the time detailed in Ampig’s DTR did not coincide with the one in the logbook of the office, thus he refused to sign Ampig’s DTR.
Ampig, for her part, filed a complaint of dishonesty and oppression against Manikan and is now pending at the City Legal Office.
“Ang gin-obra ni Ampig, ang oras niya wala ga sibo didto sa iya logbook. Sang ginpapirmahan niya, indi magpirma si Juncae, nagreklamo siya. Tapos ginpasakaan niya kaso si Mr. Manikan nga sala pa ya ni Mr. Manikan abi nga indi magpirma sa DTR niya. So, nag-file man kaso si Mr. Manikan sa Ombudsman,” said Atty. Raleigh Manikan, legal counsel of Romeo Caesar Manikan, over DYRI RMN Iloilo’s Straight to the Point program.
Ampig could not be reached for comment as of this writing.
Atty. Manikan said his client welcomed the favorable resolution of the Ombudsman.
“Ginakalipay ni Mr. Manikan nga ang iya kawsa sa hustisya kag kamatuoran medyo nagbunga na,” the lawyer said.
On the other hand, the Ombudsman junked the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and Code of Conduct Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees charges filed against Ampig for lack of probable cause. (With a report from DYWI RMN Iloilo)/PN
