ILOILO City – City government employees were trained to be protocol and liaison officers for big events to be hosted by the metropolis and city hall departments.
The 30 personnel were also the ones who served as protocol and liaison officers during the recent two Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings – the 22nd Senior Officials Meeting for ASCC (SOCA) and 17th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council and 3rd ASEAN OECD Good Regulatory Practice Network Meeting last month.
“They are our officers who can usher or provide assistance to delegates during big events in the future,” said City Tourism and Development Officer Junel Ann Divinagracia.
The employees underwent four-day skills and enhancement training prior to the hosting of ASEAN meetings. The training was conducted by the Foreign Service Institute of Department of Foreign Affairs.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the readiness of city hall offices in terms of events organization and management complements the strong promotions to become a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE).
Iloilo City will be hosting two big events including SSEAYP International General Assembly (SIGA) and another side event of ASEAN Meeting this month. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
