ILOILO City – The Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) is looking for means to assist the family of one of its personnel who died while on duty.
Allan Robles, a police auxiliary (not a traffic auxiliary as earlier reported), had a cardiac arrest in front of Police Station 1 on Jan. 18.
He was 51 years old, said PSTMO head Jeck Conlu.
Their office is keeping in touch with the Robles family, Conlu said.
Married with four children, Robles was a resident of Barangay Buntatala, Jaro district. He had been in his job for eight years, Conlu said.
Mayor Jose Espinosa III was also trying to seek financial help, Conlu said. “Kag kita man sa aton department willing man mag-send assistance sa aton nga upod sa ubra.”
Robles died after reportedly responding to a commotion between a traffic enforcer and a Jaro CPU jeepney driver.
Driver Randy Fabillon, 42, was arrested for allegedly attacking traffic enforcer Daren Von Lee, 24, after the latter warned him against stopping over a pedestrian lane on Iznart Street.
Lee said Fabillon charged at him, punching him several times as they grappled, a police report showed. The traffic enforcer sustained bruises on the face as a result.
Reports had it that Robles has just helped bring Fabillon to Police Station 1 when he collapsed. He was taken to the nearby St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo where he was pronounced dead at around 6:30 p.m.
Conlu could not confirm as of this writing if Robles’ death was connected with the commotion.
“Indi pa ako kahambal kay waay ko pa makita ang iya (Robles) nga medical report,” the PSTMO head said.
Meanwhile, Conlu said the PSTMO will support Lee if he decides to file charges against Fabillon./PN
