City nightlife peaceful so far – police

ILOILO City – No crimes have been reported to the police since this city’s liquor ban was lifted.

According to Police Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, Mandurriao police chief, since Thursday, the popular Smallville complex and the Megaworld area have been free of lawless elements.

“So far, our area is peaceful. The people are cooperative, and we hope that we can sustain this situation,” Gratones told Panay News.

On Thursday, Mayor Jerry Treñas lifted the outdoor alcohol ban.

“We will allow (it) as long as the individuals are fully vaccinated (against coronavirus disease),” Treñas said.

According to Treñas, establishments must also observe the 50 percent indoor capacity and 70 percent outdoor capacity.

On the other hand, Gratones said 20 police personnel and 40 force multipliers are keeping Smallville safe on top of the Special Weapons and Tactics of the Iloilo City Police Office and cops on motorcycles.

“We have to maximize our police presence. We also need to ensure that health protocols are being followed,” Gratones said./PN
