City ordinance for fixed tricycle routes pushed

ILOILO City – A city dad proposed an ordinance seeking to consolidate and reestablish fixed tricycle routes.

The existing zonal and inter-zonal tricycle routes in the city’s seven districts have been affected by the Local Public Transportation Route Plan (LPTRP), cited Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna.

These tricycle routes were beneficial based on the series of consultation-meetings with different tricycle operators and drivers associations conducted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on transportation chaired by Cabaluna and the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO).

Under the proposed ordinance, the fixed tricycle routes to be reestablished are as follows:

* Arevalo – Route A-1 – from corner of Barangay Sta. Filomena (near Villa Gym) to interior roads of barangays Bonifacio, Sto. Niño Norte and Sto. Niño Sur, and vice versa;

* City Proper – 1. Route C-1 – from Parola wharf to interior roads of barangays Muelle Loney, Monica, Legaspi-Dela Rama, Zamora-Melliza, Concepcion, Veterans Village, passing in front of Plaza Libertad, passing the comer of JM Basa Street, to Rizal Street, left turn to Ortiz Street, right turn to Gen. Blanco Street, right turn to Maria Clara, left turn to Rizal Street, right turn to Mabini Street, left turn to J. De Leon Street, left turn to Fuentes Street, left turn to Rizal Street, Tanza, and vice versa;

* Jaro – Route J-1 – From Sally Store, to Barangay Democracia, to Tabu Suba Barangay Hall, to interior roads of Remon Ville, Modern Homes, Villa Rica, Little Janiuay, Green Field, and Datu Puti subdivisions, to interior roads of Barangay Cubay, to Balabago Road, to Balabago Elem. School, and vice versa; Route J-2 – from Quintin Salas traversing C1 Road, to Tacas Elem. School, to Iloilo Slaughter House, to Tacas Road boundary, and vice versa; Route J-3 – from Barangay MH Del Pilar Proper, to Barangay Benedicto, to interior roads of Don Francisco Subdivision, and vice versa; Route J-4 – from entrance of Green Garden Memorial Park (Tagbac side), to interior roads of Metropolis Subdivision, to interior roads of Barangay Bito-on and Bitoon relocation site and vice versa; Route J-5 – from entrance of GMA Complex, to interior roads of Alta Tierra Subdivision and Villa Las Palmas, up to Alta Tierra Entrance (Balabago Road), and vice versa; Route J-6 – from comer of El 98, to interior roads of barangays Libertad, Fajardo, Cuartero, Arguelles, portion of Simon Ledesma, and vice versa; Route J-7 – from Habitat Relocation Site, to interior roads of Barangay San Isidro, to Bankers Subdivision, Petals Ville Subdivision, and portions of Tabu Suba and NIA Road, and vice versa; Route J-8 – from comer McArthur Drive-Tagbak (back of Sea Oil), to interior roads of Barangay Lanit and vice versa; Route J-9 – from comer McAthur Drive-Tagbak (back of Sea Oil), to interior roads of Land Heights Subdivision and vice versa; Route J-10 – from Barangay Our Lady of Lourdes, to interior roads of barangays Montinola and San Vicente, to Jalandoni Street and vice versa; and Route J-11 – from SM Jollibee, to Cuartero Service Road, to Dungon A and B, to Sambag and vice versa;

* La Paz – Route L-1 – from Nabitasan Barangay Hall, to Hechanova Street, to Dicen Street, to interior roads of barangays Nabitasan, Magsaysay Village, and Bantud and vice versa; Route I 2 – from Javellana Extension (corner E. Lopez. Street), to interior roads of Ledesco Subdivision, Barangay Tabuc Suba, and portions of City Homes and vice versa; Route I-3 – from Arroyo Street (Magdalo, Salvation Army), to Gustilo Street, to interior roads of Puerto Real Subdivision, to Barangay Lopez Jana Dike and vice versa; Route I-4 – from Barangay Divinagracia (near 7/11), to interior roads of barangays McArthur, Aguinaldo, Alalasan, Don Esteban, San Lorenzo Subdivision and vice versa; Route I.-S – from Barangay Railway Terminal, to Huervana Baldoza, to Ingore and vice versa; Route 1-6 – from Barangay Railway Terminal, to Huervana, to Ticud, to Caingin, to San Isidro Banuyao and vice versa; Route I-7 – from San Pedro Street, to Jereos Street, right turn to La Paz Plaza, to Burgos Street, to Huervana Street, to Jercos Extention Street, and vice versa; and Route I-8 – Valderama Street (Barangay Lopez Jaena Sur), turn right to Anceps Street, turn left to Lopez Jana Street, turn right to Jereos Street, turn left to Javellana Street, turn left to Burgos Street, turn left to Lopez Jana Street (near La Paz Elementary School) and vice versa;

* Lapuz – Route L-9 – from Mansaya Tricyle Terminal, to Barangay Lobo proper, to International Port and vice versa;

* Mandurriao – Route M-1 – from Buto’t Balat (near Plazuela entrance), to interior roads of Barangay San Rafael and vice versa; Route M-2 – from Oñate De Leon, to Glory’s Ville Subdivision, to Barangay Sooc and vice versa; Route M-3 – from Oñate De Leon, to Mandurriao Cemetery, to Forest Lake, to Calajunan, to Pakiad, Oton boundary and vice versa; Route M-4 – from Iloilo Supermart, to Q. Abeto beside DOH building, going to interior roads of barangays Pali, PHHC Block 17, PHHC Block 22, Dungon C, and Sta. Rosa and vice versa; Route M-5 – from Barangay Bakhaw, to Service Road, to El 98, to Jaro Big Market and vice versa; Route M-6 – from comer of Jalandoni Street, to interior roads of Barangay Bolilao, to corner of Jalandoni E. Lopez Streets, and vice versa; Route M-7 – from Bangga Kabo, to interior roads of Barangay Navais, First Home Subdivision and Pueblo Subdivision, to Bulangan and vice versa; and Route M-8 – from R. Mapa, Baranagy Airport to Lopez Subdivision and portion of Megaworld and vice versa; and

* Molo – from Barangay San Pedro, to interior roads of barangays Tap-oc, North San Jose, South San Jose, San Antonio, Compania, North and South Fundidor, portion of Juntado Subdivision and vice versa.

During yesterday’s regular session, the SP approved the proposed ordinance on first reading and was referred to the committee on transportation for study, report and recommendation./PN
