ILOILO City – Fire struck Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper yesterday, razing 12 houses. Five of these houses were totally gutted.
The fires started around 9:30 a.m. at the house of Angelito Casten, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection’s Senior Fire Officer 1 Rolen Gimena.
Fire investigators believed a short circuit may have caused it.
The houses totally burned belonged to Casten, Dolores Magbanua, Mitchelle Mirasol, Corazon Serra, and Shirley Mirasol.
The partially-damaged houses were owned by Niño Dequiña, Genevie Alejandro, Teresita Lozado, Nora Olmedo, Manuel Laure, Russel Mella, and Renee Rose Manzano.
The fire was complete put out around 10 a.m.
The fire bureau estimated the damage to have reached around half a million pesos./PN
