Bacolod City- This city has recorded the “all-time high ” 189 new coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19) cases in a day, Jan. 17, based on the real-time data of the Emergency Operations Center(EOC) here reported to them from the molecular laboratories in this city.
EOC executive director Em Ang said this was the highest record of daily COVID-19 cases here from the start of the pandemic.
“It is the highest compared from the previous record of 180 cases in a day last May 2021,” she added.
Ang further said most of the patients infected by the virus were persons with a travel history from other places, pregnant, and persons with comorbidities.
But, most of the patients were asymptomatic, she claimed.
Ang said they allowed home quarantine if the infected person have met the requirements such as asymptomatic, separate room and comfort room and the house companions are fully vaccinated.
Despite the increasing cases of COVID-19 in this city, the hospital care utilization rate is still low as it is in the 31 percent in all of the hospitals here.
Ang said, on the same day it was recorded that there was one death, and only one is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Three public schools served as quarantine facilities, and if cases still increasing, eight additional public schools are also ready to accommodate./PN
