ILOILO City – An unidentified culprit ransacked the office of the civil registrar of Passi City, carting away P10,000 cash.
Helen Pactor, 36, of Barangay Man-it and employee of the said office, said she was passing by the city hall around 6:42 p.m. on Sunday when she noticed that the office’s padlock had been pried open.
She then reported the intrusion to the police.
Documents were missing, including birth certificates.
Superintendent Hector Maestral, Passi City police chief, said the suspects entered the registrar’s office passing through the front door.
“The perpetrators destroyed the lock,” Maestral said. “I wonder why the robbers got some birth certificates and other important documents aside from the P10,000 cash.”/PN
