City’s ‘enhanced’ LPTRP implementation moved next year

ILOILO City – Although preparations have been ongoing, this city’s implementation of its enhanced Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) would be moved next year.

The city government earlier said the LPTRP would be implemented before 2023 ends.

Mapatuman ta na dayon subong but unfortunately may mga provisional authority nga gin-issue ang LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) sa mga traditional jeepney. So magsiling kita patuman, amo man ni gyapon ang sitwasyon,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said in an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo.

Despite the delay, Treñas said the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) is nearing completion of its mapping of loading and unloading bays throughout the city.

“By Jan. 2, ubos na tanan nga provisional authority but in the meantime we are preparing. May mga signage pa na, may butang pa ta sa dalan, kita niyo gani may mga markings pa kita,” the city mayor added.

The enhanced LPTRP has 17 rationalized routes, one enhanced new/developmental route, and seven new/developmental routes.

A total of 1,782 authorized modernized jeepney units are needed or approved to operate in the city under the enhanced LPTRP.

Currently, there are around 500 units in operation, but PSTMO said once the enhanced LPTRP is implemented, there would be enough modernized jeepneys to serve passengers./PN
