Classes in Bacolod suspended due to ‘Paeng’

BACOLOD City – Public and private schools here suspended classes in all levels for two days from Oct. 27 to 28 due to Tropical Storm “Paeng” as per Executive Order (EO) No. 051 of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

“Paeng” intensified into a tropical storm and was located east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar, based on Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 5 issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11 a.m. yesterday.

The Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) recommended the suspension of classes, according to Benitez.

Flood hit seven barangays of this city on Oct. 26.

Dr. Anna Maria Pornan, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head, said these barangays were Singcang-Airport, Pahanocoy, Taculing, Mansilingan, 35, 36, and 39.

Floodwaters were neck-deep in some barangays, causing several residents to evacuated, said Pornan./PN
