Classes in Pandan, Libertad suspended

ANTIQUE – Classes in two municipalities in this province were canceled yesterday, Jan. 4, due to inclement weather brought by a low-pressure area.

Local chief executives from Libertad and Pandan towns ordered the class suspension.

Mayor Mary Jean Nicopior-Te announced through Facebook that classes from pre-school to senior high school in Libertad are canceled.

“For classes in the college level, the decision is upon the discretion of school administrator,” read part of the announcement.

The Libertad mayor also advised residents to be vigilant, take precautionary measures, and keep monitoring the weather situation.

Mayor Tomas Estoperez Jr., meanwhile, also ordered the suspension of classes for private and public schools at all levels due to flooding and heavy rainfall in some areas of Pandan town.

Estoperez also temporarily closed the Malumpati Health Spring and Tourist Resort until further notice due to the flooding of the Malumpati River.

He added that all water and other tourism-related activities in the Malumpati Tourism Zone are strictly prohibited./PN
