ILOILO – A teacher from Dueñas town is the netizens’ newest favorite for being innovative.
Daisy Mae Celis-Lapasaran, Master Teacher 1 of Dueñas Central Elementary School, transformed a room in her house into a “classhome”.
Lapasaran shared some photos on Facebook as way of greeting her colleagues on Teacher’s Day.
Never did she realize it would go viral and earn her praises.
When did it start?
Lapasaran told Panay News she started decorating the room in March 2020 at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic when they temporarily stopped holding classes because their classrooms were used as quarantine facilities.
The “classhome” setup mirrors the actual school classroom. It has a bulletin board, table, monitoring board, and even a family tree with pictures and names of her 43 students.
Lapasaran said this helps her familiarize with her students.
Her daily routine since the start of the school year was just like in the face-to-face set up – wake up early, take a bath, eat breakfast, and go to her “classhome” clad in uniform.
Her “classhome” serves as her workspace; she prepares learning modules, reproduce, check, and store them there.
Lapasaran also joins webinars and online meetings from her “classhome”.
She said this initiative was supported by her husband, who is also a teacher.
Lapasaran has been teaching for 12 years already. The pandemic brought them challenges, she said.
Nevertheless, Lapasaran said, as teachers, they will “continue to uphold the highest possible standards of quality education, make the best preparations for the career of teaching, and be at our best at all times and in the practice of our profession.”/PN
