AUSTRALIA – School students in Australia and New Zealand were on strike, marking the start of a worldwide day of climate change protests.

Organizers expect more than one million young people will participate in at least 110 countries on Friday.

The protesters called for politicians and businesses to take action to fight climate change.

The strikes were inspired by school student Greta Thunberg who protested outside Sweden’s parliament in 2018.

Her example inspired various movements across Europe, the United States and Australia, known as ‘Fridays for future or school strike for climate.’ (BBC)
