BACOLOD City – There has been no letup in new infections, close monitoring of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in the community showed, according to Dr. Julius Drilon, chief of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) reported a positivity rate of 33.52 percent from June 14 to 18, with samples showing one out of three samples positive for COVID-19.
“There are no signs that cases are dropping,” Drilon said.
The CLMMRH head said people themselves are the solution to the growing problem. He urged everyone to stay home and observe the minimum health protocols.
The cost of preventing COVID-19 is cheaper than treating the illness, he added.
As of June 19, Bacolod City had 2,228 active COVID-19 cases, while data from Negros Occidental as of June 18 showed 1,753 active cases./PN
