CLO clears public cemetery of illegal structures

BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) began demolishing illegal structures inside the Public North Cemetery, also known as Burgos Cemetery, yesterday, Oct. 24.

Rey Demisana, head of the City Enforcement Team of the CLO, said they have already torn down six structures.

“We conducted the demolition following the order of City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. to clear said area,” Demisana said.

He added that illegal settlers were occupying the structures.

Demisana disclosed that they learned of the illegal structures after discovering electrical connections inside the cemetery.

“We will coordinate with the city police because we are planning to hold an operation again at nighttime,” Demisana added.

This city has three public cemeteries – in barangays Burgos, Granada and Handumanan.

On the other hand, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office will have a road closure along the Bacolod North Public Cemetery during the observance of “Undas” on Nov. 1./PN
