BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) will file a case against anyone caught stealing the city’s waste construction materials from the Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza located in Reclamation Area, Barangay 12 here.
The Bacolod Vendors’ Plaza is scheduled for demolition as part of a redevelopment project by SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SPHI).
SPHI leased a portion of the city-owned lot in Barangay 12 to proceed with the redevelopment.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said the CLO received video footages showing several individuals sawing steel bars at the plaza.
He added that waste materials, including steel bars and other construction scraps, have been vanishing from the site.
However, as of this writing, the city has yet to identify those individuals; investigation was ongoing.
Additionally, the city has deployed Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) personnel to guard the site pending its demolition./PN
