BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson sees closer cooperation between the provincial government and the city government of Bacolod with Alfredo “Albee” Benitez as mayor.

According to Lacson, under the leadership of Mayor-elect Benitez, he hopes that the provincial government will be invited to take part, too, in Bacolod City’s endeavors.

Benitez served as Lacson’s consultant on economic affairs prior to running for mayor in Bacolod.

Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, meanwhile, said he expects a “more tranquil” relationship between the city of Bacolod and provincial government of Negros Occidental especially in the implementation of projects.

Ferrer said he is happy that Benitez, a political ally, won as Bacolod mayor.

Benitez and Lacson are both leaders of local party Love Negros, while Ferrer is one of the leaders of the United Negros Alliance (UNegA).

Both Love Negros and UNegA are close political allies./PN
