Coast Guard to secure today’s ‘bangcarera’

ILOILO City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Iloilo mobilized 40 personnel to secure the bangcarera miniature paraw race at Port San Jose in Barangay Hoskyn, Jordan, Guimaras today.

The PCG deployment began on Saturday, the opening of the 47th Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta Festival.

PCG-Iloilo commander Lieutenant Rodolfo dela Peña said their personnel will “provide crowd control” during the annual event that gathers hundreds of spectators.

Ang 40-personnel deployment will secure ang mga tawo nga malantaw,” dela Peña said.

He also appealed for the public to not cause any nuisance during the race.

Floating assets will be mobilized to guide bangcarera participants.

The race will begin at Port San Jose going to the Bundolan Point and back to the port.

A total of 20 miniature paraws will join the contest.

PCG personnel will also be deployed at the wharfs in Jordan, Guimaras and Ortiz in Iloilo City. They will assist passengers travelling to and from Guimaras.

The PCG also readied its aluminum and rubber boats in case of sea emergencies.
