BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – Somebody must have told him there’s no money in selling coconuts, so he decided to push illegal drugs.

Unfortunately for Julie Coroda, 27, he came face to face with policemen who collared him after selling shabu to poseur buyers from the police station here.

The buy-bust was staged in Brgy. Sto. Rosario around 8:50 p.m. on Thursday. Several sachets of shabu valued at P60,000 and drug paraphernalia were recovered from his possession.

Coroda, a native of Brgy. Agsanayan, this town, spent the night in jail.

According to Mayor Eugene Reyes, Coroda had been under surveillance for quite some time. Barangay officials had tipped the police about his illegal activity.

Reyes said five barangays in his town can be considered drug-affected – Sto. Rosario, East Valencia, Rizal, Suclaran and Poblacion.

In another development, a suspected drug dealer was arrested on Friday around 3 a.m. in Brgy. Merced, Banate, Iloilo by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Banate police station.

Found in Anthony Parcon’s possession were two big sachets of shabu.

The suspect, 27, was a resident of Brgy. Guinacas, Pototan, Iloilo.

Police reports showed that Parcon was selling drugs not only in Pototan but also in other towns./PN
