KALIBO, Aklan – A colorum tricycle driver was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in this capital town.

He was the 45-year-old Wilfredo “Bentong” Mesina of Barangay Andagao, police said.

Mesina was caught after he sold a sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P1,000 around 5 p.m. on Friday along San Lorenzo Drive, according to Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) head Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade.

Nag-engage siya sa pagbebenta ng drugs para sa pagsustento ng bisyo niya,” Andrade said.

When PDEU members frisked him, Mesina yielded four more sachets containing suspected shabu.

The police also confiscated his cellphone, lighter and cash.

Dito sa Aklan galing ang mga droga ni Mesina. Ilang araw din natin siyang under surveillance.  Kilala natin ang kanyang supplier at sa ibang araw maaresto din ng mga operatiba,” Andrade said.

Mesina – who was an Oplan Tokhang surrenderer – denied the allegations against him. He said the suspected drugs were “planted.”

He was detained in the Kalibo police station lockup facility and facing charges for violation of sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
