It is tempting to pat our own backs for having done a good job and accomplishing a mission that would endure long after the pioneers of this endeavor will have gone out of this world.
But no. The media terrain is evolving and there is so much more to do. Panay News is keeping up with the times, especially the fast-paced developments in technology and telecommunications. We are now reaching a wider audience – Ilonggos all over the world, but staying true to our core. Readers want what they’ve always wanted: a source of news and information they can trust. Panay News believes that has always been the role of great newspapers in the past. And that role will make newspapers – in print and newer platforms such as digital – continue to thrive and stay relevant.
Life Begins Again @40. As we enter another exciting phase using new technologies at our disposal, we reaffirm to work with more vigor for the public good because the newspaper business is imbued with so much public interest.
It was political season when this paper was born on April 7, 1981. The then fledgling Panay News was one with the nation watching closely the developing events as President Ferdinand Marcos supposedly lifted Martial Law. That we are celebrating our 40th anniversary on the cusp of another political season (the 2022 election is just a few months away) is thus doubly significant. Panay News is again covering Philippine-style politics, the sure to be raucous elections and what has become an all too familiar tradition of shifting loyalties and alliances.
Four decades of political changes – and the ongoing very disruptive pandemic – have not deterred Panay News from delivering news and information that matter to its readers. Trust us. You have a courageous newspaper and a free press.
