MANILA – The Commission on Elections will summon three party-list groups for submitting several sets of nominees during the filing of Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) for the 2019 midterm elections.
These party-lists were the Coalition of Associations of Senior Citizens in the Philippines (Senior Citizens), Acts-Overseas Filipino Workers Coalition of Organizations (ACTS-OFW) and Murang Kuryente.
The Senior Citizens party-list submitted three sets of nominees with Francisco Datol, Milagros Magsaysay,and Godofredo Arquiza as first nominees and party-list presidents.
ACTS-OFW party-list, meanwhile, has two set of nominees – the first was led by Aniceto Bertiz III, who recently involved in a controversy with an airport official, while the other was led by first nominee Feliciano Adorna Jr.
Murang Kuryente party-lists also filed two sets of nominees. The first was submitted by president William Juan and Armando Diaz as first nominee, while the other has Antonio Paredes.
“The Comelec will summon the three party-list groups to hear their respective explanations on the matter,” said Comelec commissioner James Jimenez.
A total of 185 party-list groups have submitted CONAs during the five-day filing period which ended on Oct. 17./PN
