Comelec-Bacolod expects over 10K new voters

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Bacolod City is expecting more than 10,000 new voters. Registration resumed yesterday morning.

Aside from the registration at the Comelec-Bacolod office located at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports (BAYS) Center, they will also hold a registration for inmates of the Bacolod City District Jail in Barangay Handumanan on Dec. 15 and 16, according to Atty. Kathrina Caña, Comelec-Bacolod elections officer.

A satellite registration will also be conducted on Dec. 17 in Barangay Estefania.

Caña advised those registering to come to their office before 8 a.m. and bring a valid identification card and original birth or baptismal certificate.

She also said they are waiting for the final confirmation of satellite registrations, which would be held at the city’s mall establishments as part of the preparations for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in October 2023.

At present, Bacolod City has 330,621 registered voters from 2,186 voting precincts, while there are 100,697 SK registered voters from 2,138 voting precincts./PN
