BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here will resume the voters’ registration on April 13.
Its office is currently closed. Seven employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Comelec officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña, six of the infected employees were placed at a quarantine facility while the other was confined in one of the hospitals here.
Despite the closure, Caña said they will continue to operate through a work-from-home scheme.
She added that disinfection is also being done regularly.
By April 13, Caña said, they would limit the number of persons to only 30 percent of the office’s capacity.
Comelec is encouraging all residents of voting age to register ahead of the May 9, 2022 polls.
The election body shortened voter registration hours.
From the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule every Mondays to Saturdays, election offices in places where the applicants want to vote would only accept applications until 3 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays.
The poll body also suspended satellite registration in remote barangays.
Registrants are advised to observe minimum health protocols during their visit to their municipal/city election offices./PN
