MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is eyeing to assign different dates for the filing of certificates of candidacy based on elective positions, Comelec commissioner Antonio Kho Jr. said Friday.
“In response doon sa COVID situation, pinaguusapan pa ito, wala pa itong final approval by the en banc, pinag-uusapan na i-categorize na lang yung mga candidates probably by position and assign a particular date or dates for them,” Kho said in a televised briefing.
“Let’s say, lahat ng mga senador, puwedeng iassign kanila two days, mga presidential and vice presidential position, another day. For local officials, another day, para hindi po sila sabay sabay pupunta sa mga election offices natin,” he explained.
The filing of COCs is set for October 1 to October 8, 2021.
