BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental has 52 extra Voting Counting Machines (VCMs) for May 9’s national and local elections.
Provincial election supervisor Atty. Roberto Salazar said the standby VCMs would be used in case the VCMs in polling precincts encounter technical problems.
Fifty of the VCMs are with Comelec-Negros Occidental while two units are with Comelec-Bacolod City.
Comelec will conduct the final testing and sealing of VCMs on Saturday, May 7.
The VCMs were distributed to the towns and cities on April 26 and 28 yet.
The ballots, meanwhile, will be brought to the voting precincts on Election Day.
Negros Occidental has a total 2,906 voting precincts./PN
