ILOILO City – Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman George Erwin Garcia said they must know by the end of August if the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections will push through or not this Dec. 5, 2022.

During a recent visit to Iloilo for the groundbreaking of the P66-million Comelec Region 6 Integrated Field Office Building, Garcia said they have a timetable to follow for election preparation.

“Kinakailangan mag-print kami ng balota, wala ng makapipigil sa amin sa September,” Garcia told reporters.

He noted that a total of 90 million ballots are needed for printing by the National Printing Office which has three machines.

On the average, Garcia said, each machine can print one million ballots a day.

“In short, kailangan namin ng isang buong buwan to print 90 million ballots,” Garcia added./PN
