BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental will resume voters’ registration on Dec. 12.
Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, Comelec-Negros Occidental elections supervisor, said they are waiting for Comelec Central Office’s resolutions for the guidelines in registering new voters.
According to the advance information they received, voters’ registration will take place from Dec. 12, 2022 until Jan. 31, 2023.
The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, meanwhile, are slated for Oct. 30, 2023.
Ananoria said those aged 15 to 30 years old can vote in the SK polls, while those 18 and above can vote in the barangay elections.
Aside from the resumption of voters’ registration, Comelec is also planning to implement a “Register Anywhere Program”, although the provincial office has yet to receive information on whether the province is included among the pilot areas of the program./PN
