ILOILO – The dead man recently found in an advanced state of decomposition on the beach in Sitio Puntales, Barangay Nipa, Concepcion town was buried without having been identified.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) coordinated with neighboring towns Ajuy, Batad, San Dionisio, and Sara in the hope of identifying the man but there were no positive results.
Police Major Samuel Vipinosa, chief of the Concepcion Municipal Police Station, said they also sent out photos of the corpse to several municipal police stations which reported missing persons but none managed to identify the corpse.
They eventually decided to bury the man at the town’s Catholic cemetery, said Vipinosa.
According to MDRRMO chief Engr. Jhon Rey Asturias, the body was found by Sitio Puntales residents around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.
The corpse will be counted as a casualty due to Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”, said Vipinosa./PN
