ILOILO City – The local government of Concepcion, Iloilo received from the Provincial Board P100,000 cash for hosting the latter’s first out-of-town session this year.

Mayor Millar Villanueva said he plans to use the money to augment their fund for the construction work on the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) session hall.

It has become a tradition of sorts for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to give their out-of-town session host-local government unit the amount as a gesture of gratitude, said Vice Gov. Christine Garin, presiding officer.

Work on the SB session hall – repairs on the first floor and the construction of the second floor – started last week.

Wanting to add another floor to the one-story session hall, municipal councilors asked funding from Sen. Cynthia Villar, who provided P5 million.

The first floor shall house the offices of the municipal councilors while sessions shall be held on the second floor, Villanueva said.

The construction work is expected to get completed in three months.

The Provincial Board held its first out-of-town session this year at the covered gym in Concepcion on June 8.

After the session, the Board members visited the P290-million National Housing Authority housing project for super typhoon “Yolanda” survivors.

They conducted an ocular inspection in light of allegations that the structures were substandard.

All Board members were there except Bryant Paul Biron (on leave) and Pablito Gemarino (on sick leave)./PN
