ILOILO – The local government unit of Concepcion, Iloilo wants to make sure its quarantine facilities and healthcare workers are not overwhelmed.

On Wednesday, Mayor Raul Banias temporary suspended the acceptance of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).

He requested the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases in Western Visayas for a 10-day moratorium. T

According to Banias, the municipal government already implemented the suspension of repatriation sans the RIATF green light.

He cited the town’s 62-room quarantine facility hitting full capacity.

“The local health board of Concepcion convened and our Municipal Health officer, Dr. Helen Minguez, presented the situation of our Ligtas COVID-19 isolation facility – the first and only facility in the province that has been accredited by both the Department of Health and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. We have 62 rooms in our isolation facility but LSIs and ROFs continuously come in, plus residents who are isolated as first generation contacts of index cases. Our census as of Oct. 20 is 72,” said Banias.

To recall, the towns of Janiuay, Oton and Pavia also requested for a moratorium and they subsequently got the approval of RIATF./PN
