Concepcion LGU locks down 58 households in barangay

“Our Municipal Health Officer recommended the contact tracing and testing of persons who may have been exposed to the new case,” says Mayor Raul Banias of Concepcion, Iloilo.

ILOILO – Beginning at 6 a.m. yesterday, 58 households in Sitio Proper, Barangay Jamul-awon, Concepcion, Iloilo were placed on surgical lockdown.

A new case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the barangay emerged – a 45-year-old female.

According to Mayor Raul Banias, the patient appeared to have contracted the disease from her daughter who earlier tested positive for the disease.

The daughter – currently at the town’s quarantine facility – appeared to have gotten the disease from Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City where she took care of a sick relative (not a COVID-19 case) early this month.

The daughter returned home on Sept. 9.

The mother is now at the town’s quarantine facility, too.

In Executive Order No.  58, Banias set the lockdown to end at 6 p.m. of Sept. 30.

“Our Municipal Health Officer recommended the contact tracing and testing of persons who may have been exposed to the new case,” said Banias.

Sitio Proper would also be disinfected.

“All residents of the affected households are strictly advised to refrain from unnecessary travel,” said Banias.

The travel restriction, however, does not apply to persons needing immediate medical care, clarified the mayor who is a doctor.

Only the following are authorized to enter and leave Sitio Proper:

* members of Kontra COVID-19 Task Force

* municipal government personnel distributing food and medicines to the locked down households

* barangay officials and tanods

* Barangay Health Emergency Response Team

* Municipal Health Office personnel

* personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and General Services Office and sanitation personnel

As of Sept. 23, Concepcion had 25 cumulative COVID-19 cases – 12 active and 13 recovered./PN
