ILOILO City – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros 3rd District Engineering Office is currently undertaking the reconstruction of dilapidated concrete road along Bacolod South Road in Brgy. Talubangi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
District Engr. Haydee S. Alunan said the P50-million road project funded under FY 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) includes reconstruction of 1.26-kilometer, four-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) including removal of dilapidated existing road pavement, provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and installation of illuminated solar pavement levelled marker studs to facilitate smooth traffic especially during night time.
“We have upgraded the thickness of the road from the existing 0.23 meters to 0.30 meters since it is considered a main road for trucks loaded with heavy sugarcane, other forms of vehicles including motorcycles from various towns and cities in the province,” according to Alunan.
“Given fair weather condition, we can complete the project by January next year with almost 65 percent accomplishment as of September this year. Once completed, this road would help facilitate seamless flow of traffic, allowing ease in transportation system, hence, help in the economic improvement of the province,” she added.
In addition, Alunan said this road section leads to the towns of Cauayan, Candoni, Hinobaan and city of Sipalay, interconnecting through the boundary of the municipality of Ilog. This is one of the busiest road sections in Kabankalan City due to business establishments, commercial buildings, schools, banks and government offices are located along it.
She added the provision of illuminated solar pavement marker studs will enhance the visibility of road markers during night time, serving as guide to drivers, hence, may help prevent the occurrence of accidents and untoward circumstances./PN
