MANILA – The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) is poised to submit to Congress the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law this month, said Sen. Franklin Drilon.
But he has no idea what the proposed measure looks like, said the veteran legislator.
Still, Drilon said he believes the new law “will reflect the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro” that seeks to end the decades-old conflict in Mindanao.
If Congress won’t be able to pass it this year, they can pass it “on the first quarter of 2015,” Drilon said.
Late last month, the senator from Iloilo City asked President Benigno Aquino III to transmit to Congress the draft law “as soon as possible.”
He said the proposal will be their “highest priority” once it is sent to them.
Drilon said they will work double time to meet the measure’s target ratification “by second half of 2015.”/PN
