ILOILO City – The city government will start this March the construction of a 120-unit low-rise condominium in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district for its low-salaried employees.
According to Roy Firmeza, head of the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (Icupao), the in-house contractor of SM Development Corp. (SMDC) has started delivering aggregate materials.
“This project is in partnership with SM Prime Holdings and its construction division, SM Development Corporation. The project has a P247-million budget – P217 million for the residential building and P30 million for the site development,” said Firmeza.
City hall employees will be able to afford it on affordable terms, he added.
The project is expected to be completed after one year and a half.
Beneficiaries are city hall employees with Salary Grade 8 and lower, and with at least five years of service as a regular employee by Dec. 31, 2021,” said Firmeza.
Another groundbreaking ceremony for another housing project will be held today.
Also located in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, the ground breaking for the Uswag Residential Building Complex will be graced by Ilonggo senator Franklin Drilon, National Housing Authority regional manager Engr. Rizalino Cabahug and District Manager Fe Jamoyot, as well as Mayor Jerry Treñas and Cong. Julienne Baronda. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
