BACOLOD City – Member-consumers of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) approved a resolution demanding to stop the power cooperative’s collection of a P0.0817 per-kilowatt-hour additional monthly charge.
The member-consumers passed the resolution during Ceneco’s 42nd Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) at the Taytung High School gymnasium in the city on Sunday.
The collection of the additional charge is in line with an Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) decision in September 2017 which approved Ceneco and Kepco-Salcon Power Corp.’s joint application for a load factor-based pricing scheme on the monthly reconciliation of an unpaid amount under their supplemental agreement.
The ERC decision allowed Ceneco to charge its member-consumers the additional monthly fee for 50 months until its P232,010,090 unpaid contract quantity with Kepco-Salcon is recovered.
The extra charge was reflected in Ceneco’s April power bill.
There were 7,234 member-consumers who attended the AGMA in Bacolod City, higher compared to about 3,200 last year.
The AGMA also have other venues outside Bacolod. There were 2,674 AGMA attendees at the Bago City Coliseum; 3,840 at the Murcia public plaza covered court; 2,845 at the Silay City public plaza covered court; and 3,334 at the Talisay City public plaza covered court.
National Electrification Administration executive assistant Atty. Vicar Loureen Lofranco lauded the AGMA attendance.
Lofranco in her speech said member-consumers must actively participate in the activities of their electric cooperatives.
It will be a big help in achieving the cooperatives’ goals, she added./PN
