Cool Smashers dispatches Petro Gazz, goes 13-0 in PVL

BACOLOD City – Creamline Cool Smashers kept its unblemished slate in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference with a 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 25-18 win over Petro Gazz Angels at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum here.


Jessica Galanza tallied 25 points, including 21 attacks, two blocks and two service aces while completing her triple-double with 17 excellent receptions and 15 excellent digs.

Michelle Gumabao also made her contributions with 16 points on Sunday night, build on 13 attacks, two service aces and a block, to go along with 13 excellent digs.

The Cool Smashers moved up to 13-0.


The defending champions clinched the victory on the road even with the absence of main gunner Alyssa Valdez, who was wearing a boot cast on her right foot.


Jovielyn Prado and Stephanie Mercado dished out 14 and 12 markers, respectively, as the Angels slumped to their second consecutive defeat and dropped to 9-4 win-loss record.


BanKo-Perlas Lady Spikers, meanwhile, formalized its entry into the semifinals after a 25-27, 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9 win over PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers.


Nicole Tiamzon and Angelique Gervacio were at the forefront of offense for the streaking Lady Spikers as they entered the semifinals with 10-5 win-loss slate. The Lady Troopers dropped to 6-7./PN
