Cool Smashers ousts Lady Troopers in Premier Volleyball League

MANILA – Creamline Cool Smashers kept its unbeaten record in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference by beating the PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers, 25-15, 25-18, 25-22, at the San Juan Arena.

Risa Sato poured 12 points built on nine attacks and three kill blocks.

Jessica Galanza added 11 markers while Rosemarie Vargas contributed double-double 10 points and 15 excellent receptions on Wednesday.

The defending champions Cool Smashers moved two games away from sweeping the eliminations after notching its 14th consecutive win despite the absence of injured Alyssa Valdez.
“Every game, doon namin makikita ‘yung improvement ng bawat isa at ng team. Dagdag morale din sa amin ‘yun every game, lalo pa’t nananalo kami, lesson ‘pag may mga mistakes,” said Galanza.

Honey Royse Tubino topscored with 13 points anchored on 10 spikes and three rejections as the Lady Troopers bid their playoff chances goodbye.

Meanwhile, Petro Gazz Angels dispelled its two-game losing skid, dashing the playoff hopes of the Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers with a straight-set hammer, 25-20, 25-15, 25-14.

Jonah Sabete finished with double-double 15 points and 10 excellent digs, while Jovielyn Prado punched in 11 markers built on eight attacks and three aces, on top of eight excellent receptions for the 10-4 Angels./PN
