ILOILO City – Police Staff Sergeant Agar Octavio of the municipal police station in New Lucena, Iloilo is under investigation for allegedly unnecessarily firing his gun in Barangay Bitaog, New Lucena, Iloilo during a commotion.
The gun firing happened on the night of Dec. 10.
Octaviano figured in an altercation with a group of men led by Andy Somido, also a resident of the village.
The police officer was allegedly mauled by the suspects. Thus, he fired his gun once to stop the group from hurting him.
Somido, on the other hand, claimed that Octaviano was the one who provoked the brawl.
Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, provincial police director, ordered Octaviano disarmed for carrying a firearm other than what the government issued him.
He also said the Provincial Internal Affairs Service of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office is the one conducting the investigation.
“While under investigation, I ordered the relief of Octaviano,” Gorero said./PN
