ILOILO City – Fed up of robbery and drug-related incidents in the municipality of Sara, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) sent off augmentation personnel.

IPPO director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas deployed 30 police personnel to help the police station of Sara address drug and robbery problems.

“We are worried because Sara was where we arrested several drug personalities,” Salinas said.

These personnel came from the IPPO and from the Provincial Public Safety Company.

Personnel of the IPPO recently arrested drug peddlers in Brgy. Zerrudo and recovered a big volume of shabu and unlicensed firearms.

The 39-year-old Melvin Braga, his companions Roel de Asis, 28, and Jhonjie Asada, 20, yielded 18 sachets of shabu, a .45 caliber pistol, a .9mm Ingram machine pistol and ammunitions.

Before his arrest, Braga’s cousin, Renante, 34, and several companions were collared by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents.

Renante and companions Romel Plogio, Kenneth Obillos and Joesan Superal, all of Barangay Bacabac, yielded P1.2-million worth of shabu.

The Bragas were “high-value” targets and have been under surveillance for several months, said Salinas.

“They belonged to our priority list of major targets in Sara,” he added.

The Bragas were the suspected illegal drug suppliers in northern Iloilo.

The augmentation personnel will be stationed at the Sara police station.

Sara police chief, Senior Insp. Gilbert Archide said the three drug-affected barangays are drug Poblacion Ilaya, Bacabac and Poblacion Ilawod./PN
