ILOILO City – Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, Western Visayas police director, gave city and provincial police directors and police station chiefs a month to improve their performance.
Bulalacao was appointed to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) just this June 5. He said he would be reviewing his men’s performance in July.
“The provincial and city police directors will monitor the performance of their police chiefs while the regional office will monitor the performance of city and provincial directors,” said Bulalacao.
Non-performing policemen face administrative charges or may even be booted out of their posts.
“They have a month na ipakita ang kanilang worth, na karapat-dapat na mag-remain sila sa kanilang posts,” said Bulalacao.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office director, Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, welcomed Bulalacao’s move.
“Hindi tayo nagkulang sa pag-remind sa kanila. Hindi na sila bata. They should be responsible. The fact na nandyan sila sa post nila, they know what to do. If they are caught violating the director’s marching orders, they will be relieved,” said Tayaba.
Bulalacao was given by the Philippine National Police chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, the blanket authority to reshuffle personnel, especially those not performing well and those engaged in illegal activities.
“I shall set high expectations for performance, but I will be fair and just. I will match the right person to the right position,” said Bulalacao.
There will be a regular evaluation of provincial and city police directors and station commanders.
“Good deeds and exemplary performance will be quickly acknowledged and rewarded, while mediocre performance and misbehavior will be swiftly sanctioned and not tolerated,” said Bulalacao./PN
